소개

세포주기 조절기전 연구를 통한 노화 및 암억제의 분자메커니즘 연구.
세포주기란 세포가 복제와 분열을 통하여 자신과 동일한 두개의 세포로 성장
하는 과정이다. 따라서 세포주기는 세포의 증식 분화 죽음 노화를 이해하는 기
본적이 지식을 제공한다. 특히 암 생물학의 가장 핵심이 되는 분야이다.
연구의 방향은 일차적으로 세포 주기를 통한 암 세포의 증식 능력을 제어할
수 있는 수단의 개발이다. 암세포가 상실하고 있는 안전장치를 복구하거나 안
전장치의 상실로 인한 암세포의 약점을 공격하는 새로운 항암제를 개발하는
것이다.
암세포를 노화 시키는 것 역시 암 치료의 한 방법으로 제안해 오고있다. 본
인은 최초로 P53암억제 유전자에 의한 세포노화를 발견하였고 그후 P53 유전
자에 의한 노화 유도기전을 연구해오고있다. P53에 의한 노화를 억제하는 유
전자를 발견하고 기능을 분석하여 노화 유도기전의 분석에 접근해가고 있으
며 노화 억제 및 유도 유전자를 분리하여 노화를 제어하는 유전자 네트워크를
구축하는 연구를 진행하고 있다.
